Group exhibition “Communicating Vessels”

Until 7 October, the group exhibition “Communicating Vessels” is open at the gallery “si:said” (Daržų 18, Klaipėda). The curator of the exhibition is Gytis Skudžinskas.

“The only genre I don’t understand is landscape,” says a friend as she walks past a sunlit ancient amphitheatre. – “It looks beautiful while you’re looking at it, but as soon as you try to capture it in some way…” – she adds, but doesn’t finish.

The exhibition “Communicating Vessels” is almost entirely about landscape, but only almost. For the materialisation of this idea, the participating artists unite in an analytical rethinking of the boundary situation, for which they have chosen the shoreline. Even so, the shoreline frequently dissolves and becomes only predictable, or it changes forms on a regular basis. In some artworks, it remains a poetic metaphor, in others, a collection of material evidence. The works created in different media, as if in a chaotic theory, open up, in an unexpected movement, each other’s hitherto unexplored characteristics.

Artists in the exhibition: Rytas Jurgelis, Vilma Samulionytė, Petras Saulėnas, Ričardas Šileika.
